Short Bio
Dr. Lerato Bapela is a Water Specialist at CCBSA Head Office and she provides an advisory role for strategic water initiatives in the plants. She is also responsible for strategic projects in the business. Dr. Bapela worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Limpopo and Unisa for five years. Before her move to academia, Dr. Bapela worked at the Department of Water and Sanitation as Scientific Manager: Systems Operations. She has also worked at Orange - Senqu River Commission) and Permanent Water Commission Trans-Boundary River Commissions between South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia as a technical team member. From 2001 to 2003, Lerato worked at SAB Miller as Production Management Trainee and Brewing Team Leader. She currently works as an Executive Assistant to the Director: Public Affairs and Communications at Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) where she is responsible for Sustainability and Strategic Projects Management at the Head Office. She provides an advisory role in the Manufacturing, Strategic and Regulatory components of the local and global water strategy of The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) and the South African Environment. In her career in the South African Water Sector, Dr. Bapela has represented the South African water sector in Colombo, Sri Lanka after the occurrence of the Tsunami disaster, represented the DWS at the UNESCO IHP Conference in Paris and the World Water Forum in Stockholm.
