John obtained a Masters in Agronomy at the University in Pretoria in 1988, and a PhD in Soil Physics at Washington State University in 1991. He has experience with crop water requirements and irrigation water quality, including irrigation with mine impacted waters. His work is generally quantitative, following mechanistic modelling approaches as far as possible.
