Water Resources of South Africa Study 2012 (WR2012)

WR2012, so named for the year in which it was launched, is the sixth comprehensive national water resource assessment to be undertaken in South Africa since the first was completed in 1952. The study has, for the first time, created a publicly-accessible, Web-based and interactive reporting system to continually quantify both the surface and groundwater resources of South Africa. The website describes the water resources of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. It is the culmination of a number of water resource appraisals that have been carried out over the past four decades. The website provides all the data, information, GIS maps, water resource models, spreadsheets and tools to allow water resource practitioners to investigate, analyse and plan their water resources studies.
